Privacy Policy

Samson is a workout tracker built to be private by default. You don't create an account, and your training data lives on your device — and, if you choose, in your own iCloud. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches, where it goes, and the few third parties involved.

The short version: Samson has no login, runs no analytics or advertising trackers, and never sells your data. Your workouts stay on your device and your private iCloud. The only data that leaves your device does so to process a purchase (RevenueCat / the app stores) or to generate AI coaching you request (Anthropic, via our proxy).

1. Who we are

Samson (the "App") is provided by Callsign Media LLC ("Callsign Media," "we," "us," or "our"). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].

2. Our approach: local-first, no account

Samson does not require you to register or sign in. There is no Samson user account and no Samson-operated server that stores your training history. The workouts you log, your body metrics, your routines, and your progress are stored locally on your device using the operating system's standard app storage.

Because there is no account, we cannot see your name, email, or training data unless you choose to contact us directly (for example, by emailing support).

3. What data the App handles

The App works with the following categories of data, all of which originate on your device:

Purchase data (subscription status, transaction receipts) To unlock and restore premium features and manage subscriptions. Processed by Apple/Google and RevenueCat (see Section 5).
AI Coach inputs (the goals, preferences, equipment, and workout context you provide) To generate or adapt routines and answer coaching questions, when you use AI features. Sent to Anthropic through our proxy to produce a response (see Section 5).

4. Permissions we request

The App only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it, and you can decline or revoke any of them in your device settings:

Health & Location commitment: Data obtained from Apple Health and your device's location services is used only to provide in-app features. It is never used for advertising, marketing, tracking across apps or websites, data mining, or sold or shared with data brokers.

5. iCloud sync and third-party services

iCloud (Apple)

If you enable sync, your Samson data is stored in your own private iCloud container tied to your Apple ID. This keeps your data backed up and consistent across your devices. Callsign Media has no access to your iCloud container and cannot read its contents. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

RevenueCat (subscription management)

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and verify purchases. When you buy or restore a subscription, RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information along with an anonymous, randomly generated app-user identifier and basic device/platform details. It does not receive your name or email. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple App Store / Google Play (payments)

All payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never receive or store your payment card details. Billing is handled entirely by the app store under its own terms and privacy policy.

Anthropic (AI Coach)

When you use the App's AI features (such as generating or adapting a routine, or asking the AI coach a question), the inputs you provide and the relevant workout context are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce a response. These requests pass through a lightweight proxy we operate (on Cloudflare) solely to attach our API credentials; the proxy forwards your request to Anthropic and returns the response, and is not designed to store the contents of your requests. Requests are not tied to a Samson account because none exists. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, your inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. 7. Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud, you control it directly. You can edit or delete individual entries in the App, and you can erase all Samson data by deleting the App and removing its data from iCloud in your device settings. Purchase records held by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat are retained according to their respective policies and applicable law.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Since Samson keeps your training data on your own device and in your own iCloud, you can exercise most of these rights yourself directly within the App and your device settings. For anything else — including questions about purchase data — contact us at [email protected] and we will respond as required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

9. Children's privacy

Samson is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.

10. International users

Callsign Media LLC is based in the United States. The third-party services described above may process limited data (such as purchase information or AI requests) on servers located in the United States or other countries. Where required, those providers maintain their own safeguards for international transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice within the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
